Powerball Jackpot Rolls to $1.7 Billion; Kansas Has Multiple Big Powerball Wins!

The Powerball jackpot rolled through Wednesday’s drawing with no top prize winner, which raises the upcoming Saturday night jackpot to $1.7 BILLION! This is now the third highest Powerball jackpot, and the third highest US Lottery jackpot, of all time!

Multiple players around the Sunflower State matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000! The winning numbers in the Wednesday, September 3 Powerball drawing were 03 – 16 – 29 – 61 – 69 Powerball 22.

The winning tickets were all sold at different locations. One ticket was sold in the Northeast region, another in the South Central region, and one ticket was sold through the Kansas Lottery app!

If a player wins Saturday’s jackpot, they will have the choice between an annuitized prize estimated at $1.7 billion or a lump sum payment estimated at $770.3 million. Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5 percent each year. Game leaders will review ticket sales and the updated annuity factor on Friday to determine if a jackpot increase can be supported.

Players may have noticed that they were not able to purchase as many drawings on their Powerball tickets. That is because there is a game change at the end of September coming to Powerball in Kansas! The new DoublePlay feature can be added to any Powerball ticket for an additional $1. The DoublePlay is a secondary drawing that immediately follows the main Powerball jackpot drawing, where players can win up to $10 million!

The new DoublePlay feature will begin with the September 22, 2025, drawing. As that date gets closer, there will be fewer multi-draw options for players in preparation for the game change. Starting on September 22, players will be able to purchase up to 15 drawings in advance as they could before.
