Todd Templeton, 50, of Russell said he can't help but think of

January 22 Powerball jackpot of $131 million.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have won what I did, but I was
just one number away from winning a jackpot," said Templeton.
Templeton won a $10,000 prize for matching four of the first
five numbers and the Powerball. The winning numbers in the January
22 drawing were 1-2-7-9-55 Powerball 29. Templeton's Quick Pick
ticket matched every number except the "7." He had "23"
Templeton told Lottery officials he is a regular player of both
Powerball and Mega Millions, typically purchasing a $10 Quick Pick
for each Powerball drawing and a $5 Quick Pick for each Mega
"I never pick my own numbers," said the lucky winner. "I figure
if it's meant to be, it will happen," he said. The most he's
ever won until now, he said, was $10.
A native of Russell, Templeton is the co-owner of Don Karst Well
Services in Russell. He purchased his lucky $10 Quick Pick
Powerball ticket at Westside Propane & Convenience, located at
616 W. Wichita in Russell.
"I'm going to keep on playing Powerball and Mega Millions,"
Templeton said. "It's fun and you can't win if you don't play."
