Merriam Resident Wins $10,000 on Kansas Lottery Veterans
When he arrived at Lottery headquarters late Friday afternoon,
Jacob Mossman, 28, was still in the "I don't believe it" stage of
winning a big lottery prize.
"It doesn't seem quite real yet," the Merriam resident explained
to Lottery officials. "I stopped to buy gas and bought a few
lottery tickets while I was there, including two $2 Red,
Wild & Blue tickets."
Mossman was scratching the tickets in his vehicle when he
discovered he had uncovered a $10,000 top prize on one of his Red,
Wild & Blue tickets.
"I looked it over quite a few times to make sure my eyes weren't
playing tricks on me," he said. "Then I put it in my wallet and
didn't tell anyone about it until I brought it to the Lottery."
Mossman was pleased that the Red, Wild & Blue ticket on
which he won is one of the Kansas Lottery's Veterans Benefit
tickets. Veterans Benefit tickets are like any other scratch
tickets, but proceeds from the games go directly to programs that
benefit Kansas military veterans. The Kansas Lottery is in its
11th year of selling Veterans Benefit tickets and has
transferred more than $10.2 million to veterans programs so
far. In addition to Red, Wild & Blue, the other Veterans
Benefit game currently for sale is $1 Star
"I like that these tickets help our veterans," said Mossman.
"Plus, I've had pretty good luck on them."
Mossman purchased his lucky $10,000 winning Red, Wild & Blue
ticket at Gasmart USA 8, located at 2243 S. Princeton in
