Exciting Changes to Mega Millions Begin October 19!
Exciting changes are coming to
the Kansas Lottery's Mega Millions game. After tomorrow
night's drawing, there will be new game enhancements that will
allow for larger starting jackpots, faster growing jackpots, and
better odds of winning a prize! Other good news - the price
of a ticket will remain $1.
The new game enhancements
include increasing the starting jackpot from $12 million to $15
million, and allowing the jackpot to grow by at least $5 million
after each drawing in which the jackpot is not won. In
addition, the prize structure will change. Players who match
the first five numbers are now guaranteed to win $1 million, which
is a major increase from the previous prize of
Another exciting change is that
the Megaplier option will now include a Megaplier of 5x. The
Megaplier multiplies prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5, giving players a
chance to win up to $5 million on non-jackpot prizes!
Megaplier costs an additional $1 per play.
Mega Millions drawings will
still consist of five white balls and one gold Mega Ball, for a
total of six winning numbers. Under the new matrix, the
number of white balls will increase to 75 and the number of gold
balls (the Mega Ball) will decrease to 15. The result will be
overall odds of just 1 in 15 to win a prize! The odds of
hitting the jackpot will be 1 in 259 million. The jackpot for
tomorrow night's Mega Millions drawing is an estimated $37 million,
with a cash option of $25.2 million.
Players who use play slips when
purchasing Mega Millions tickets will need to use the new Mega
Millions play slips. The new play slips will be available at
all Lottery retailers after tomorrow night's drawing.
Mega Millions is currently
played in 45 jurisdictions: 43 states plus Washington, D.C. and the
Virgin Islands. Drawings are held at approximately 10 p.m.
every Tuesday and Friday.
