El Dorado Nurse and Firefighter Husband Win $20,000 Prize
Like many lottery players who
win big prizes, Tammy Zimmerman, 39, of El Dorado wasn't
absolutely, positively sure she had won until she got to the
Lottery office in Topeka.
"I took one look at the
receptionist's face and knew right away I'd won big money,"
Zimmerman said. "She was really excited for me."
Zimmerman won her "big money" -
a $20,000 prize - on the single $2 Bonus Crossword ticket she
bought last Wednesday.
"I had stopped to get gas and
had a couple of bucks left over, so I figured why not pick up a
Bonus Crossword," Zimmerman explained. "My mom and I both really
enjoy playing the game."
Zimmerman is a nurse at Wesley
Medical Center in Wichita. Her husband Jack, who's a firefighter in
El Dorado, accompanied his winning wife to Lottery headquarters
where the $20,000 prize officially became theirs.
"I'm excited now that we know
for sure," said Jack. Tammy agreed it was quite a windfall

prize money to purchase a vehicle for Tammy's mother and may also
take a little mini-vacation.
