Newton Resident Wins a "Triple Payout" worth $25,000

A 20-year-old Newton resident received a big payout after playing the Kansas Lottery's $5 Triple Payout instant scratch game.  Tyler Hutson purchased two of the $5 tickets and won a $25,000 top prize on one!

"I bought the tickets late Monday night and didn't scratch them until late the next morning," said Hutson.  "When I realized how much I had won, I thought my dad had played a trick on me.  He's pranked me with two fake lottery tickets and I thought he was doing it again."

After reading the back of his winning ticket, Hutson realized his dad hadn't played a trick on him and he was actually holding a real winning ticket worth $25,000!

"I can't believe I won this much," said Hutson.  "I only buy tickets a couple of times a month. The most I've ever won before was $25, and I was happy with that."

According to Hutson, winning a $25,000 top prize couldn't have come at a better time.

"I was laid off from my job in June," said Hutson.  "Now I can afford to pay off a few bills and buy a newer car.  I can't wait to get home so I can call my friends and tell them what I've won.  The only people who knew before I came to Topeka were my parents.  I wanted Lottery officials to confirm it before I told anyone else."

Hutson purchased the winning ticket at Prime Time Stores 127, located at 1608 E. 1st St. in Newton.
