Overland Park Man Celebrates Recent Retirement with $1.761
Million Lottery Prize
Most people hope to have a little nest egg when they retire, but
the Kansas Lottery's newest jackpot winner has a nest egg that's
super-sized! The lucky winner of $1.761 million in last night's
Super Kansas Cash jackpot claimed his winning ticket early this
afternoon at Lottery headquarters in Topeka.
The winner, who asked the Lottery not to reveal his name,
matched all numbers on a $5 Quick Pick ticket to win the top prize.
The winning numbers were 12-15-19-26-31 Cash Ball 03. After
mandatory taxes, the winner will receive a check for
$1,232,700.
"Even though I'm a fairly laid back person, it does make your
mind spin a little faster," admitted the happy winner. The
retired businessman said he hadn't yet told anybody about his good
fortune and "probably won't for a while."
"But it sure feels good," he said. "I'm very lucky."
The winner plans to give away some of the prize money and also
do some traveling. He discovered his good fortune when he checked
his numbers on the Kansas Lottery website last night. In
addition to the winning ticket, he also had three other $5 Quick
Pick tickets for the drawing.
"I tend to buy a few more when the jackpot gets up there," he
explained. The winner purchased his lucky jackpot-winning ticket at
Hen House 33, located at 6900 W. 135th Street in Overland Park.
The Super Kansas Cash jackpot had been on a roll since April 14,
after a Wichita resident claimed a jackpot worth $1.47
million. Super Kansas Cash is played every Monday, Wednesday
and Saturday. The jackpot, which is paid in one cash lump sum,
returns to $100,000 for Saturday's drawing.
