Minneapolis Resident Wins "Red Hot" Top Prize worth $50,000!

Although Shilo Fuller seldom plays Kansas Lottery games, she had great luck playing a $5 Super Red Hot Crossword instant scratch ticket last week.  The Minneapolis resident revealed six Red words on her ticket, winning a $50,000 top prize!

"I'm a pre-school teacher and on May 16, we were taking a field trip so I decided to buy a couple of the $5 Crossword tickets to pass the time while we traveled," explained Fuller.  "I didn't win anything on the first ticket and didn't have time to finish playing the second ticket, so I put it in my purse.  Yesterday, I gave up trying to finish scratching the ticket and gave it to my mom.  After she finished playing the game, she handed it back and told me I had won $10."

When Fuller stopped at a local convenience store to cash in her winning ticket, she got a surprise of a lifetime.

"When the clerk scanned it, she told me I had to claim my prize in Topeka," said Fuller.  "I took the ticket home and looked it over and couldn't believe what I was seeing.  I won $50,000, not $10!"

After sharing the news with family and friends, Fuller signed the back of her winning ticket and kept in a safe place until she was able to claim her ticket at Lottery headquarters in Topeka.

"I'm usually not very lucky," said Fuller.  "I don't know if I'll try my luck again with that game, but maybe I'll get lucky on another one.  Since I'm a teacher and have summers off, I work at a convenience store part-time until school starts.  I get to see and sell all the new games."

Fuller, who is a single mother of three children, was undecided how she would spend her winnings.

"Luckily, I don't have a lot of bills," said Fuller.  "But the ones I do have, I can pay them off."

The winning ticket was purchased at Mity Quik of Minneapolis, located at 121 N. Mill in Minneapolis.
