Garnett Player Receives $20,000 Lottery Surprise
It's happened again! A lottery player came into Lottery
headquarters to claim a ticket and found out she'd actually won
more than she thought - alotmore!
Sherry Benjamin, 66, of Garnett, arrived at Lottery headquarters
thinking she had won $2,000 on a $2 Double Bonus Crossword
"When I got there I was really surprised to find out that I had
actually won $20,000!" said an excited Benjamin. "I miscounted the
number of words I'd scratched off. I thought I had nine, but
instead I had ten."
Benjamin said she was rather glad she didn't know the amount of
the prize before claiming the ticket.
"Or else I'm sure I wouldn't have slept at all last night," said
the lucky winner.
Benjamin, who is the owner of Benjamin Realty in Garnett, told
Lottery officials she is a frequent player of Bonus Crossword
scratch tickets, and typically stops on her way home from work to
pick one up.
"I love the $2 Crosswords, the $5 Super Red
Hot Crosswords, too. It takes a while to play them, so I always
feel like I'm getting my money's worth."
Benjamin, still "recovering" from her unexpected $20,000 win,
said she had no plans yet for the prize money, and for now will
just keep it in the bank.
The lucky winner purchased her $20,000 ticket at Casey's General
Store 1336, located at 219 W. Park Road in Garnett.
There are 26 top prizes of $20,000 remaining in the Double
Bonus Crossword game, along with 235 $2,000 prizes and hundreds
of thousands of other cash prizes.
