19-Year-Old Conway Springs Resident Wins $25,000 "Cash"
A 19-year-old Conway Springs resident received a big surprise
Wednesday morning worth $25,000 after playing the Kansas Lottery's
$5 Cash Farmer instant scratch game. Seth Tarrant, who
purchased the winning ticket last Saturday, couldn't believe his
good fortune.
"I purchased two different $5 tickets last Saturday, laid them
on the dash of my car and didn't scratch them until Wednesday,"
said Tarrant.
Wednesday morning, while waiting for his boss, Tarrant noticed
the tickets sitting on his dash and decided he better scratch
them. When he realized he had won a $25,000 top prize playing
Cash Farmer, he couldn't believe it.
"I can't believe that ticket laid on my dash for days," said
Tarrant. "Luckily, nothing happened to it. After I
realized how much I had won, I double checked it several times and
took it to two convenience stores for verification. Once I
was pretty sure I had won, I called my mom with the good news."
Although Tarrant's mom, Elaine, was thrilled with the news, she
was a little hesitant in believing her son had actually won a top
prize.
"I told him not to tell anyone just in case it wasn't a big
winner," said Elaine, who accompanied Tarrant to Lottery
headquarters in Topeka to claim his prize. "I was afraid he
might have read it wrong and it would end up being a $25
winner."
Now that the winning ticket has been officially verified as a
$25,000 winner, Tarrant looks forward to calling friends with the
good news.
"I can't wait to tell my friends I just won $25,000," said
Tarrant. "It's still hard to believe."
Tarrant, who attends Bethel College in Newton, was undecided how
he would spend his winnings.
His winning ticket was purchased at Casey's General Store 2952,
located at 201 N. 5th St. in Conway Springs.
