Ugly Sweater Contest Winner Wins $1,000 on Holiday Sweater Ticket

34-year-old Wichita Resident Sam Plank made a trip to Topeka for two reasons on Wednesday. The first was to pick up $50 in Kansas Lottery coupons for his 2nd place finish in the Ugly Sweater photo contest the Lottery held, and the second was to claim a $1,000 prize on a winning $2 Holiday Sweater.

"When I told my wife, she kind of rolled her eyes, but she believed it with all the luck I've been having lately," said Plank.

Plank has won multiple second-chance prizes, and prizes from social media contests. In the first online entry contest the Kansas Lottery had, Plank won five Atari Flashback Consoles. Plank also won aStar TrekDVD set in a contest and tickets to the Country Stampede in Manhattan.

"I usually go for Bonus Crosswords, or any of the second-chance prize tickets. Right now I'm hoping to win a Walking Dead prize, or Chiefs. The Speedway would be fun too, any of them!"

Plank recently had another source of unexpected income; one of his YouTube videos went viral generating revenue from ads. Plank works as a designer at Spirit Aerosystems, but in his spare time he posts videos of paranormal activity. He says he doesn't take them too seriously, but every now and then one will go viral in Saudi Arabia or Mexico.  Click here to see Plank's video:  http://youtu.be/HjbJ4Rmp4Rg

Plank also saw that the Kansas Lottery had 31 2by2 $22,000 wins last year, so he's been playing 2by2 every day since the first of the year.

"That will be my next trip to the office," Plank said.

Plank plans on using some of his winnings to purchase a new floor, and he admits the rest will probably go to his two young daughters who have birthdays just two days apart in February.

The $1,000 winning Holiday Sweater ticket was purchased at Presto Convenience Store, 1254 S. Taylor Rd in Wichita. There are seven $10,000 top prizes and twenty-two $1,000 prizes remaining in the game.
