Shawnee Heights Bus Driver Starts New Year with $10,000 Lottery
Win
Arnetta Robinson is a lucky
lady. She has a job she really likes - driving a school bus for the
Shawnee Heights School District - and she just won a top prize
playing one of her favorite Kansas Lottery games. The Topeka
woman scratched off a $10,000 prize in the $2 instant scratch game
Blue Line Slingo.
"I was scratching my ticket to
pass the time while waiting for my takeout order at a Mexican
restaurant," Robinson explained. "I was so excited when I
realized I had won $10,000 that I jumped up and down and almost
left without my food!"
This isn't Robinson's first big
lottery win. She's previously won prizes of $4,000 and $1,000
playing Kansas Lottery instant scratch tickets.
"It's my favorite pastime," said
Robinson about her fondness for scratch tickets. "I don't ask for
much. I usually win a little bit at a time. I figure if I'm
destined to win a bigger prize I will, but I mainly play for
enjoyment."
Robinson had not yet told her
husband about her winnings when she claimed her ticket Monday at
Lottery headquarters.
"I'm going to surprise him when
I walk in with this big check," said Robinson, referring to the
large ceremonial check the Lottery gave her in recognition of her
win.
With her winnings, Robinson
plans to make car repairs, purchase some new clothes, fill the
freezer with groceries and buy her husband a "30-pack of
Budweiser."
The winner purchased her lucky
Blue Line Slingo ticket at Goose Express, located at 2901 SE
Fremont Street in Topeka.
