Everyday Play Turns into $22,000 Pay Day for Topeka Man
Robert Scott is a faithful
player of 2by2. The 61-year-old Topeka man said he has purchased a
2by2 ticket every single day for the past two years. His
persistence paid off last night, when he won a $22,000 top prize
for matching both red numbers 14 and 17 and both white numbers 06
and 09.
"My wife always watches
television to get the winning numbers," Scott said. "Last night she
got pretty excited, calling out to me, 'I think we won! I think we
won!'"
Just to be sure they had a
$22,000 ticket Scott called the Lottery hotline to double check the
numbers and also ran his ticket through a Check-a-Ticket machine at
a store. He arrived at Lottery headquarters five minutes
after the office opened this morning, winning ticket in
hand.
"This is truly joyful," Scott
told Lottery officials. "My car's transmission is going out, and
it's on its last leg. So this win came just in time."
Echoing what many big winners
say, Scott added, "I never thought it would happen to me - at least
not something this big!" After the Lottery withholds 25
percent federal income tax and 5 percent state income tax, he will
receive a payment of $15,400.
Scott is retired from the
military. He and his wife have been married 31 years. They have
three grown children and a dozen grandchildren.
The lucky $22,000 2by2
ticket was purchased at Bobka Petroleum, located at 1245 SE
29th
Street in Topeka.
