Topeka Resident Listens to Instincts - Wins $10,000 Top
While at a convenience store yesterday, Richard Harris "had a
feeling" he should purchase a Kansas Lottery instant scratch game.
He was glad he listened to his instincts after purchasing a $2 Holiday
Sweater instant scratch ticket and winning a $10,000 top prize
playing the game!
"I usually buy Powerball and Mega Millions tickets," said
Harris. "Something told me to buy scratch tickets, so I
bought the Holiday Sweater and won $25. I still had a feeling
I should buy more tickets, so I bought the entire roll."
When he returned home with the pack of tickets, Harris shared
the tickets with his wife Jasmaine.
"When I scratched off the $10,000 winner, I looked over at my
wife and said, 'Babe, I just won $10,000!'" said Harris. "She
told me to quit lying, so I showed her the ticket. She was so
excited she jumped up and knocked over the chair she was sitting
After all the tickets were scratched, the couple ended up
winning an additional $100.
"I'm glad I bought all the tickets in the roll," said
Harris. "My wife's birthday is in a couple of days, so we're
going to do something special to celebrate winning."
The Harris', who have been married six years, have four
sons. They plan to use the prize winnings to pay off
The winning ticket was purchased at California Amoco, located at
2740 S.E. California in Topeka. There are six $10,000 top
prizes remaining in the Holiday Sweater game, along with 13 $1,000
cash prizes and thousands of other cash prizes.
