Good Samaritan Wins $10,000 Top Prize!
A Good Samaritan from Wichita has won a top prize worth
$10,000. Reyes Jasso was working last week when he discovered
a wallet with substantial cash and credit cards in it.
Knowing how it would feel to lose such an important item, Jasso
looked at the driver's license in the wallet to get the owner's
address. After work, Jasso returned the wallet to its
rightful owner and was given a $20 reward. That reward money
led to another reward the next day.
While on his way to work the following morning, Jasso stopped at
a convenience store for a drink and three lottery instant scratch
tickets. After paying with his reward money, Jasso went
out to his vehicle where he scratched his tickets. He didn't
win on the first two tickets, but on the third ticket he won a
$10,000 top prize! The Wichita resident won the top prize
playing the Kansas Lottery's $2 Money Multiplier.
"I really believe God is paying me back for being an honest
person," said Jasso. "Winning $10,000 will help me out a
lot. I can finally get caught up on bills."
When Jasso realized he had won $10,000, he immediately called
his wife Jacqueline with the good news.
"When I called home to tell my wife, she didn't believe me,"
said Jasso. "She's always complaining because I buy lottery
tickets, but I knew I'd win something big eventually. If I have the
money, I'll buy a couple of tickets each day. If you don't try
to win, you'll never win."
The Jassos, who have been married 14 years, together have three
children. The Good Samaritan works for Mannay Roofing as a
roofer. He purchased the winning ticket at Benton Plaza,
located at 815 N. Main in Benton.
