Rainy Day turns into Pay Day for Goodland Resident
Michael McGlone, 60, is no stranger to winning with the Kansas
Lottery. On St. Patrick's Day, the Goodland resident won
$1,400 playing a 6-Spot Keno ticket. Shortly after that win,
he won $1,000 playing a $20 Casino Game Book instant scratch
ticket. His most recent win came May 9, when he matched all
numbers on an 8-Spot Keno ticket, winning $10,000. Since he
played an 8-Spot Keno ticket, he also won a progressive jackpot
worth $8,573, bringing his total winnings to $18,573!
"I play almost every day," said McGlone. "Keno is a
conversation starter for me with some of the women who come in the
store. It's a good way to flirt, especially when I'm
winning!"
If it weren't for a rain storm passing through Goodland that
day, which caused his plans to change, McGlone probably wouldn't
have been at the right place at the right time, playing his
favorite game.
"I was supposed to be painting a house, but with the rain I
wasn't able too, so I decided to play Keno instead," said
McGlone.
Since McGlone was playing Keno on a Thursday, he decided to stay
for a while so he could play Keno for the 50% Bonus Payout
promotion. Every Thursday in May, players who purchase $10 or
more on a single 5-Spot Keno ticket from 5 - 8 p.m., will receive
an additional 50 percent payout on all prizes won. Before
going home for the evening, McGlone decided at the last minute to
try his luck playing an 8-Spot Keno ticket using numbers from
family members' birthdays. It was that last minute purchase
that gave McGlone his big win.
"I couldn't believe it," said McGlone. "The retailer was
really excited for me because I play there all the time. Now
I can finally go visit my sister and start saving some money for my
grandkids. When I win again, I'll keep adding to it."
The winning ticket was purchased at Presto 1612, located at 2510
Commerce Road in Goodland.
