Coffeyville Resident Claims $15,000 Mega Millions Ticket!

A Coffeyville resident has claimed a $15,000 cash prize in the March 18 Mega Millions drawing!  The lucky winner, who wished to remain anonymous, won the cash prize after matching four of the first five numbers and the Megaball, with the Megaplier option.

"I buy Mega Millions tickets every week," said the winner.  "I always add the Megaplier option to my Quick Pick tickets because I figure if I'm going to win, I want to win big."

By adding the Megaplier option, the price of the ticket doubles, but players have a chance to multiply any prizes won by 2X, 3X, 4X or 5X, except for the jackpot.  Since the Coffeyville winner added the Megaplier option to his Mega Millions ticket, he multiplied his $5,000 cash prize by "3," the Megaplier number drawn for the March 18 drawing.

"I always check the winning numbers the morning after a drawing on the Lottery's website," explained the winner.  "Since you can win a prize by matching the Megaball, I start with that number and work my way backwards to the first five numbers.  When I realized I had matched four numbers and the Megaball, I checked my numbers again.  While I was on the website, I decided to enter them on the Mega Millions 'Check Your Numbers' page to see how much I had won.  When I realized I had won $15,000 it was hard to believe. Now I can pay off bills."

The winning ticket was purchased at Casey's General Store 1406, located at 104 N. Cline Rd. in Coffeyville.  Tonight's Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $15 million, with a cash option of $8.3 million.
