One Last Gamble Pays Off Big for Olathe Resident
After a night of playing a weekly poker game with his friends,
39-year-old Olathe resident Matthew Braswell decided to try his
luck one last time and buy a Kansas Lottery instant scratch
ticket.
"My best friend Dusty and I decided to get a few tickets," said
Braswell. "I usually get the $5 tickets and he gets the $20
tickets, but I decided to spend the last of my cash on a $10
ticket."
Braswell picked the $10 Club Casino instant scratch game, and it
paid off. He won $10,000!
"I can't repeat my friend's exact words here, but he couldn't
believe it," said Braswell. "I went home and woke my wife up,
she didn't believe it either."
Braswell revealed a "Dice" symbol that doubles the prize amount
shown. The prize amount showing was $5,000, doubling Braswell's
winnings to $10,000.
When asked if he would continue playing the Lottery, Braswell
said, "I had to play the rest of my winners out before I came in. I
also won $100 on a $1 Donkey Doubler instant scratch game. The next
time you see me I'll be in to claim my Powerball winnings."
Braswell and his wife of 13 years have two children. He
plans on doing something nice for his family with the
winnings. He purchased his winning ticket at QuikTrip 182,
located at 1301 Santa Fe in Olathe.
