"On a Whim" Purchase leads to $10,000 Top Prize
Last Saturday before visiting friends, Marsha Clark purchased
two of the Kansas Lottery's $2 Money Multiplier instant scratch
tickets. The Fort Scott resident said she doesn't buy lottery
games often, but she's glad she made the spur of the moment
purchase after revealing a $10,000 top prize on the first ticket
"When I realized how much I had won, I started screaming," said
Clark. "My husband Michael came running into the room wanting
to know what was going on and why was I screaming. When I
told him how much I had won, he was as surprised as I was. We
immediately called our parents with the good news. In all the
excitement, I nearly forgot to scratch the second ticket I
Although Clark didn't win on the second ticket she scratched,
the couple's winning streak didn't come to an end.
"Later that evening we went to the casino with friends and
Michael won $150," said Clark. "We had a very exciting
weekend and winning couldn't have come at a better time.
Michael was injured from a fall in November and was off work for
several weeks and I was laid off from my job in December.
Luckily, I was able to find another job in January. This
extra money will allow us to get caught up on bills."
The Clarks, who have been married 12 years, have two
children. After paying a few bills, they plan to purchase a
newer truck and take their kids on vacation to Branson,
The winning ticket was purchased at Pump N Pete's 28, located at
1135 E. Wall in Fort Scott.
