Overland Park Resident's Daily Routine
Pays Off with $10,000 Win
Part of Lorena Kraft's daily
routine consists of purchasing a $2 Kansas Lottery instant scratch
ticket. This morning when the Overland Park resident
purchased a $2 Fire & Ice 5s game, she was amazed to discover
she had won a top prize worth $10,000 playing the game!
"I stopped for gas this morning
and purchased a $2 scratch ticket while I was buying my Powerball
and Hot Lotto tickets for tonight's drawing," said Kraft. "I
went back out to my car and decided to scratch my ticket before
leaving the parking lot. When I realized how much I had won,
I said to myself, 'This can't be right,' so I went back into the
store and asked to have my ticket checked."
One of the store clerks, who
Kraft is familiar with, looked at the winning ticket and was
surprised by her big win, too.
"When I handed him my ticket, I
asked him if the ticket was real" said Kraft. "He looked it
over and said, 'Oh my gosh, you won $10,000!' It was all very
exciting."
After calling her daughter with
the good news, Kraft decided not to wait to claim her prize and
made a trip Lottery headquarters in Topeka.
"I can't wait to show off my
faux check at Thanksgiving," said Kraft. "Everyone will be so
surprised. I'm sure it will make their mouths
drop."
Kraft, who is a retired
financial advisor, plans to invest her winnings. She
purchased her winning ticket at QuikTrip 240, located at 11902
Riley St. in Overland Park.
