Valley Falls Resident Will Use $75,000 Prize Money to Help with College

Logan Wichman is a 19-year-old criminal justice major at Highland Community College. She was on a shopping trip to Topeka with her mother, when she cashed in a $10 winning ticket, and picked up a $10 Holiday Greetings ticket. Her decision paid off, as the ticket was worth $75,000!

"I didn't think it was real at first," said Wichman. "I was just staring at the ticket. I showed my mom, and she told me to sign the back of the ticket right there in the store."

Wichman scratched her ticket on a Saturday, so she had to wait before she could come to the Topeka office to claim her prize. "We went home and put the ticket inside a fireproof safe, and then put the fireproof safe inside a bigger gun safe. Then I had to study for finals week!" added Wichman. "I had to take a final this morning before I could come here to claim the ticket. And I have a final every day this week. It has been a stressful couple of days."

Wichman says she plans on using her winnings to help pay for college. "I work as a waitress during school breaks and every summer to save for school. Now I can use that time to study and enjoy the time off."

The winning ticket was purchased at the I-70 BP on 1000 SW Wanamaker in Topeka. There are still two top prizes left on the $10 Holiday Greetings ticket.

Players are invited to submit all their winning and non-winning tickets in the Kansas Lottery PlayOn® Players Loyalty program to earn points for drawing entries and a chance to win cash and other prizes!
