Roxbury Resident becomes A "Lucky Man" - Wins $10,000 Top
Prize
After purchasing a Kansas Lottery 4s Galore instant scratch
ticket yesterday, Lesley Ferm became a lucky man. The Roxbury
resident purchased one of the $2 tickets while taking his lunch
break, and won a $10,000 top prize by revealing a "4" symbol!
"I buy scratch tickets every day," explained Ferm. "I buy
a ticket in the morning and one during my lunch hour. For
some reason, I made a beeline for that game when I walked into the
store. I went back out to my truck and scratched the ticket
and the song 'Lucky Man' came on the radio. I guess you could
say I became a lucky man that day, too."
After realizing he had won a top prize, Ferm decided to go back
into the store to have his winning ticket verified.
"I knew without a doubt I had won $10,000 when the store clerk
said I had to take my ticket to a Lottery office to claim my
prize," said Ferm. "I signed the back of the ticket and kept
it in my pocket until I claimed my prize today."
Before making the trip to Lottery headquarters in Topeka, Ferm
returned to the convenience store where he purchased his winning
ticket.
"When I got up to the counter, the store clerk said, 'Hey!
You're the guy who won $10,000 yesterday!'" said Ferm. "By
the time I left the store everyone knew how much I had won.
The word spread quickly."
Ferm, who works for Swenson and Short building farm equipment,
planned
to save his winnings.
"Or maybe I'll do something fun," said Ferm. "I have a lot
of vacation hours to use, so I might take off the rest of the month
and enjoy myself."
The winning ticket was purchased at Prime Time Stores 123,
located at
100 N. Broadway in Salina.
