Ottawa Resident Sticks with Same Numbers - Wins $24,000
Playing Keno
Last July, Kimberly Gregg of Ottawa purchased a Kansas Lottery
Quick Pick 10-Spot Keno ticket and liked the computer-picked
numbers so well she continued to play them daily. Her
persistence paid off December 30, when she matched nine of her 10
numbers, plus the Bull's-eye, on a $4 ticket, winning a $24,000
cash prize!
"My husband Lee and I stopped at the store Sunday to get a few
things and decided to play a game of Keno while we were there,"
said Gregg. "When my numbers started coming up on the screen,
I started prancing around. When all nine numbers appeared, I
hollered, 'I just won big money!' I was so excited I was
shaking."
Although Gregg plays a 10-Spot Keno ticket daily and is very
familiar with the game, she wasn't 100 percent sure how much "big
money" she had actually won.
"We took the ticket home and I looked on the Internet to see how
much I won for matching nine numbers plus the Bull's-eye," said
Gregg. "If a player matched nine numbers plus the Bull's-eye
on a $2 ticket, they would win $12,000. Since my ticket was a
$4 ticket, I wasn't sure if I had won $12,000 or if it doubled to
$24,000."
It wasn't until this afternoon, when Gregg claimed her prize at
Lottery headquarters in Topeka, that she realized her ticket was
worth $24,000!
"I'm still shaking," said Gregg. "I'm glad I continued
playing those same numbers. I'm going to continue playing
them, too."
Gregg and her husband, who have been married 18 years, have one
son. She plans to pay off student loans with her winnings and
possibly start some home remodeling projects.
Her lucky ticket was purchased at Ottawa Mini Mart, located at
2120 Princeton Rd. in Ottawa.
