Abilene Resident Wins Second Top Prize Playing Favorite Game!

According to Karen McMillan of Abilene, her favorite Kansas Lottery game to play is the $2 Bonus Crossword instant scratch tickets.  We can understand why!  In 2011, McMillan won a $20,000 top prize playing the game and yesterday, she claimed another $20,000 top prize playing a $2 Bonus Crossword instant scratch ticket!

"Saturday morning, I cashed in two winning tickets for a $5 Crossword and a $2 Crossword," explained McMillan.  "When I found all 10 words on the $2 game, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.  I kept saying, 'This can't be right,' so I checked and rechecked my ticket before walking back to the store and having it verified on a lottery machine."

By revealing all 10 words on her $2 Bonus Crossword ticket, McMillan won a $20,000 top prize!

"When I walked over to the store, the owner was there and he checked my ticket for me," said McMillan.  "When he said I had to claim my prize in Topeka, I knew I must have won $20,000, but it was hard to believe.  After winning a $20,000 prize in 2011, I never expected I'd get that lucky again.  I usually win enough to keep playing, but this was quite a shock.  In fact, I didn't truly believe it until Lottery officials verified it was true."

McMillan, who retired from the Dickenson County Courthouse after 26 years of service, is planning a 13-day cruise this September to Hawaii.

"I'm taking the trip with some friends and I was worried about how I was going to pay for it," said McMillan.  "Now I don't have to worry and I can look forward to the cruise."

The winning ticket was purchased at West Stop West, located at 1324 NW 3rd St. in Abilene.  This is the same store that sold a $730,484 Super Kansas Cash jackpot-winning ticket in the May 1 drawing.
