Garden City Man Wins $10,000 Powerball
Prize!
A Garden City man was shocked to
discover last Friday he had been holding a $10,000 winning
Powerball ticket in his pocket for a couple of days. Jose' Mosqueda matched
four numbers plus the Powerball in the October 17 drawing, winning
a $10,000 cash prize!
The winning numbers were 01-07-10-23-42 Powerball 35. Mosqueda's winning numbers
were 01-07-14-23-42 Powerball 35.
"I stopped to check my ticket when
I was on my way to work," explained Mosqueda. "When I scanned my ticket,
the Check A Ticket machine read, 'Sign back of ticket,' but never
showed the amount I had won. Since I had never seen
that message before, I decided to go to another store and check my
ticket again."
Getting the same message at the
next store, Mosqueda asked a store clerk to verify his
ticket.
"When the store clerk scanned my
ticket, she yelled out, 'Wow! You just won $10,000!'" said
Mosqueda. "By the
time I left the store, everyone knew how much I had won. It was very
exciting."
Shocked by the good news, Mosqueda
said he became physically ill and had to call in sick to
work.
"After hearing how much I had won,
my stomach became sick and I knew I wouldn't be able to work," said
Mosqueda. "I buy a $1
Quick Pick Powerball ticket every Wednesday and Saturday. You always hope to win,
but when you do it's hard to believe."
Mosqueda, who works for Tyson
Foods, has two daughters and seven grandchildren. His wife is currently
living in Mexico, but plans to come to the United States soon. He was undecided how he
would spend his winnings.
The winning ticket was purchased at
Food Mart 3, located at 1505 Buffalo Jones Ave. in Garden
City.
