Goddard Resident has Beginner's Luck Playing $5 Game - Wins
$50,000 Top Prize
For the last couple of years, Jacey Vidricksen of Goddard has
been trying her luck playing Kansas Lottery games. Although
she has dreamed of winning a large prize, she never thought it
would actually come true. Much to her surprise, her dream
came true yesterday when she revealed six Red words on a $5 Super
Red Hot Crossword instant scratch ticket, winning a $50,000 top
"Last night I bought four of the $2 Lucky Lines tickets and two
of the $5 Crossword tickets," explained Vidricksen. "This was
my first time playing the $5 Crossword game, so when I found six
Red words on one of my tickets I couldn't believe it. I
handed my ticket to my roommate and was barely able to say, 'Dude,
I think I won $50,000!'"
After her roommate, Hali Fortner, looked over the winning ticket
and confirmed it was worth $50,000, Vidricksen called her parents
to share the good news.
"My dad told me to sign the back of the ticket and teased me
about Hali trying to steal the ticket from me," said
Vidricksen. "My mom told me to enjoy the moment because this
is probably a once in a lifetime experience. I just asked
someone yesterday when good karma was going to come my way and I'm
shocked it came so soon."
Due to all the excitement of winning a $50,000 top prize,
Vidricksen forgot to scratch the other tickets she purchased
yesterday. Maybe her good karma will continue with another
Vidricksen, who works for the United States Postal Service, has
a two-year-old daughter and plans to save her winnings.
"When my daughter gets older and wants a cell phone and a car,
I'll be ready," Vidricksen said while laughing.
The winning ticket was purchased at Presto 1633, located at 1254
S. Tyler Rd. in Wichita.
