Belle Plaine Woman Brings Home $20,000 in Hot Dough!
Elizabeth King works in a job where she bakes hot pizza. Now,
thanks to her favorite pastime, she's bringing home some hot
dough! The 32-year-old Belle Plaine woman purchased four $2
Bonus Crossword tickets after she got off work Sunday night at
Casey's General Store in Belle Plaine. She said good-bye to
her co-workers and took her tickets home to play.
"I really enjoy Bonus Crosswords," King said. "I've been playing
them for years. I probably buy four or five a week, and I've won
lots of $10 and $20 prizes, even $100."
But never had King won a top prize of $20,000…until Sunday
"I was counting the words as I uncovered the letters," King told
Lottery officials. "I was super excited when I counted ten words,
but I was afraid to get too excited for fear I didn't have what I
thought I had."
It wasn't until King claimed the ticket at Lottery headquarters
that she knew for sure it was real - she had won a $20,000 top
prize by uncovering ten words!
King, who describes herself as a "single mom with four kids who
works seven days a week" says she will use her prize money to "buy
Christmas for my children."
"My kids are even more excited than I am. I told them, 'We'll
just have to see what Santa brings you,' the winner said with a
smile. Her children are ages 12, 11, 9 and 7.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Casey's General Store 2949,
located at 400 N. Logan in Belle Plaine.
