Free Ticket Leads to $10,000 Win for Medicine Lodge
Resident
A Medicine Lodge resident, who had been
working a lot of overtime, decided to splurge on a $10 instant
scratch ticket last week. Diana Plas purchased a $10 Club
Casino instant scratch ticket, winning a free ticket. Since
she had won a free ticket, she decided to try her luck again and
purchased another Club Casino ticket. Plas was glad she
purchased the second ticket because it was worth $10,000!
"I hadn't seen that game before, so I
thought I would try it," said Plas. "I couldn't believe it
when the second ticket I bought was worth $10,000! The most I've
ever won before was $50."
According to Plas, she purchases instant
scratch tickets three or four times a week, but usually never buys
$10 games.
"I'm never lucky," said Plas. "I was
just saying to my fiancée that if I didn't have bad luck, I
wouldn't have any luck at all. Then, bam! I win $10,000."
Although she was extremely happy to have won
the cash prize, Plas only told her mom about her winnings.
She waited until she made the trip to Lottery headquarters in
Topeka yesterday to claim her prize before telling other friends
and family members.
"After I told my mom, I locked my ticket in
my glove box," said Plas. "Every time I got in or out of my
car, I checked to make sure the ticket was still there. It
was nerve-racking."
Plas, who has an 11-month-old daughter,
works for Dollar General. She plans to move to Lawrence and
will use part of her winnings toward moving expenses.
The winning ticket was purchased at Kwik
Shop 713, located at 5700 SW 21st St.
in Topeka.
