Expectant Junction City Parents Win More than Expected!

Clay and Amber Crocker of Junction City have been married a year and are expecting their first baby in December. What they didn't expect was to win $25,000 on a Kansas Lottery instant scratch ticket!

"As soon as I scratched off the winning ticket last weekend, I said to myself, 'My wife is going to have fun with this,'" said Clay Crocker.

The 27-year-old father-to-be, who said he plays a couple of tickets each week, found a $25,000 prize on a $5 Pirate's Treasure ticket.  He was home alone when he scratched off the ticket. He immediately sent his wife a text message at work to tell her the good news.

"I didn't believe him at first because he's always kidding around about winning something big," Amber Crocker told Lottery officials. "But after he sent me a picture of the ticket, I saw for myself it was really true."

Amber Crocker is employed at a nursing home in Chapman. Her husband works for Diamond Roofing in Manhattan.  In addition to saving money for their new arrival, the Crockers plan to pay off Amber's car with their winnings.

"It's sort of surreal," said Clay, who's been playing lottery games for about five years. "I'm going to keep playing. I figure if I win once, I can always win another time."

Crocker purchased his lucky winning ticket at Rohan, Inc., located at 813 S. Washington Street in Junction City.

There are five $25,000 top prizes remaining in the $5 Pirate's Treasure game, along with tens of thousands of other cash prizes.
