Expectant Junction City Parents Win More than Expected!
Clay and Amber Crocker of Junction City have been married a year
and are expecting their first baby in December. What they didn't
expect was to win $25,000 on a Kansas Lottery instant scratch
"As soon as I scratched off the winning ticket last weekend, I
said to myself, 'My wife is going to have fun with this,'" said
The 27-year-old father-to-be, who said he plays a couple of
tickets each week, found a $25,000 prize on a $5 Pirate's Treasure
ticket. He was home alone when he scratched off the ticket.
He immediately sent his wife a text message at work to tell her the
"I didn't believe him at first because he's always kidding
around about winning something big," Amber Crocker told Lottery
officials. "But after he sent me a picture of the ticket, I saw for
myself it was really true."
Amber Crocker is employed at a nursing home in Chapman. Her
husband works for Diamond Roofing in Manhattan. In addition
to saving money for their new arrival, the Crockers plan to pay off
Amber's car with their winnings.
"It's sort of surreal," said Clay, who's been playing lottery
games for about five years. "I'm going to keep playing. I figure if
I win once, I can always win another time."
Crocker purchased his lucky winning ticket at Rohan, Inc.,
located at 813 S. Washington Street in Junction City.
