Iola Man Wins $10,000 Thanks to Helpful Retailer
Casey Kidwell had a plan when he went to buy Kansas Lottery
tickets Sunday afternoon. He was going to buy 15 of the $2 Triple
7's. However, the cashier pointed out that there were only 19
tickets left in the pack, and asked Casey if he wanted to get all
of them. Kidwell's decision to buy those extra tickets paid off in
a big way, as one of them was a $10,000 winner!
"I'm definitely glad that he said something about the remaining
tickets," said Kidwell. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for
him!"
Out of the 19 tickets that Kidwell purchased, it was the next to
last ticket that was the big winner. This means that if the cashier
hadn't noticed that the pack was almost gone and said something, it
wouldn't have been Kidwell making the trip to Topeka to claim his
prize.
"I go to that store all the time, and the cashier who helped me
is a friend of mine," said Kidwell. "I definitely owe him. I'm not
going to forget about him when the winnings come in."
Kidwell says he plans to use the money to pay off some bills and
to help his family. "My sister's car could use some work, and my
parents have some bills that I could help with. I'll probably fix
my truck up some as well," he said.
The winning ticket was sold at Pete's 25 at 709 North State
Street in Iola. There are still four top prizes left in the
$2 Triple 7's instant scratch game.
