Fredonia Resident Wins "Big Cash Money" with $10,000 Top
Prize
After celebrating her 77 birthday August 7, Bessie Ford of
Fredonia found herself celebrating another big occasion two days
later. Ford, who purchased a couple of the Kansas Lottery's
$2 Big Cash Money instant scratch tickets, revealed a $10,000 top
prize playing the game!
"I buy scratch tickets every day," said Ford. "I like to
mix it up by playing $1 games one day and maybe $5 games the
next. I've always been hoping to win a big one."
Initially, Ford purchased two of the Big Cash Money tickets,
winning two free tickets. Wanting to try her luck again, she
exchanged her free tickets for two more of the same game. Of
those two tickets, Ford revealed a $10,000 top prize on one.
"I thought I had won $1,000 at first," said Ford. "My
grandson double-checked my ticket and that's when we realized I had
actually won $10,000. I could hardly believe it."
To ensure she had indeed won a top prize, Ford drove back to the
store where she purchased her tickets to have it verified.
"By the time I was leaving the store everyone in there knew I
had won,and kept telling me it couldn't have happened to a better
person," said Ford.
Ford, who has two children, two grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren, was undecided how she would spend her
winnings. The winning ticket was purchased at Pump N Pete's of
Fredonia, located at 303 Washington in Fredonia.
