Hard-working Sedan Player Wins $25,000 on The Voice

Belinda Shull of Sedan won big money on The Voice.  Not the show, but the Kansas Lottery instant scratch ticket fashioned after the popular TV show! The Kansas Lottery launched The Voice $5 ticket just this month and Shull thought she'd give the game a try.

"I got two of the tickets, scratched off the bar codes and had the clerk check them to see if either one was a winner," Shull explained. "When she told me the second one was a winner and too big to pay out at the store, I went ahead and scratched it and found out I had won a $25,000 top prize!"

The money Shull used to buy the tickets was tip money from her waitressing job. She also works at a grocery store and cleans houses.

"When it finally sunk in what I had won, I knew I could pay the house off, and that's when I started to cry," said the happy 40-year-old winner.

Shull's husband Kenny owns a construction company. The Shulls have three children: Chris, 18; Alex, 16; and Morgan, 7.

"Morgan really likes to sing and Kenny always says she's going to be good enough to be on The Voice someday," said Shull.   In the meantime, the Shulls will enjoy the $25,000 they wonplayingThe Voice.

Shull purchased her lucky ticket at 99 Gas N Go, located at 315 S. School Street in Sedan. There are still three $25,000 top prizes remaining in The Voice game, as well as thousands of other cash prizes.

Players may also enter their non-winning $5 The Voice tickets through the Kansas Lottery's PlayOn®Player Loyalty program for a chance to win $1,500 cash or a grand prize VIP trip to Los Angeles and Las Vegas in a second-chance drawing.
