New Blackjack Game Popular with $10,000 Overland Park Winner
Ever since she first saw the Kansas Lottery's new $1 Blackjack
game in a store a couple of weeks ago, Alison Madsen has been
purchasing and playing Blackjack tickets.
"Blackjack is my favorite game to play at a casino, so I was
naturally drawn to the instant tickets," said the 38-year-old
Overland Park winner. Madsen explained how she sent her
husband Kris to the store to get milk this week and asked him to
get her more Blackjack tickets while he was there. He came
back without the tickets because the store was out of
"Later in the day we were on our way to help our friends paint
their house, when we stopped at another store. That store only had
five Blackjack tickets left on the pack and I bought them all,"
Madsen was excited, to say the least, when she scratched off the
very last ticket, number 299, and saw it was a $10,000 winner!
"She started screaming, 'Kris, Kris, Kris!' At first, I was
afraid something was wrong with one of the kids!" disclosed Kris
Relieved when he found out his wife was screaming over a lottery
ticket, Kris Madsen advised his wife to "calm down" until they knew
for sure if the ticket was a winner. They got the ticket verified
and, sure enough, it was a $10,000 winner!
The Madsens plan to use their prize money to pay bills and
"really celebrate" their wedding anniversary on July 30.
Together the couple has four children. Alison is a
stay-at-mom. Kris works as an operations supervisor at Conway
