Simply Kansas Says ”Quality"

When you see a Simply Kansas logo displayed on a product, you will know it is a product that is grown, raised or made in Kansas. Being able to use the Simply Kansas logo on packaging and promotional materials is just one of the benefits the new trademark program offers participating Kansas producers. Participants also receive marketing and technical assistance, as well as educational opportunities, and are included in an online product directory at www.SimplyKansas.com.

“The Simply Kansas program has opened many doors for our company,” said Jim Ingwerson, owner of Kansas Lavender. “We have been able to connect with many other businesses that have helped to enhance our business. The support and guidance of Simply Kansas has been extremely helpful in the growth of our business.” Located in Topeka, Kansas Lavender’s products include lavender jam, honey and gift products.

“There’s clearly a demand for quality products that Kansas ag producers offer,” Governor Kathleen Sebelius said. “But these producers sometimes don’t have the resources to promote their products. That’s where Simply Kansas can help.”

The new Simply Kansas program replaces the From the Land of Kansas program, which had served as the state’s trademark program for the past 30 years.

“Simply Kansas exists because of lottery revenue,” said Sarah Larison, Simply Kansas program manager. “We are grateful for the funding that lets us support our Kansas agricultural producers and entrepreneurs with their promotional efforts. Their successes mean more jobs for Kansans.”

All Kansas producers can apply for membership, provided at least 75 percent of their item’s ingredients or processes are Kansas-based. Applications are reviewed by a panel of judges. There is a $25 annual membership fee. For more information, visit www.SimplyKansas.com or contact Commerce at (785) 296-3760.

The Kansas Lottery has a positive impact on the state’s economy by supporting agriculture marketing activities of the Kansas Department of Commerce, including the state’s new Simply Kansas trademark program. Funding for Simply Kansas and most other Commerce marketing activities comes from the Economic Development Initiatives Fund (EDIF), which is derived from Kansas Lottery proceeds.
