Beginning on September 1, 2022, Sports Betting began in Kansas, and enthusiasm was high in the Sunflower State. From September 1 through September 11, over 2.4 million bets were placed in Kansas!
Kansans were definitely feeling the luck during the beginning of Sports Betting, cashing in over $47 million in winnings during this time. The most popular teams that bets were placed on were, unsurprisingly, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals, followed by the Kansas State Wildcats and the Kansas Jayhawks.
Additionally, the Chiefs vs the Arizona Cardinals game was a popular betting choice, as well as the Buffalo Bills vs the Los Angeles Rams. The NASCAR races at the Kansas Speedway also drew lots of interest from Kansas bettors.
It should come as no surprise that with the additional interest in the Hollywood Casino 400 Presented by Barstool Sports on Sunday, September 11, that Hollywood Casino and Barstool Sports broke Penn Gaming’s record for a new property opening.
