Lottery Supports National Guard Education Assistance with Veterans Games

The Kansas Lottery is proud that one of the programs supported through the sale of Kansas Lottery Veterans tickets provides educational assistance to members of the Kansas National Guard.  To learn more about Kansas National Guard Education Assistance Act Scholarships and to meet some of the Guard members who receive funding through the sales of Veterans games, click here:   Veterans Video.

The Lottery is in its 11th year of selling Veterans instant scratch tickets. Since the legislation authorizing the games was passed in 2003, the Lottery has transferred more than $10.2 million from the sale of Veterans games directly to veterans programs.

The distribution of Veterans game proceeds is determined by the Kansas Legislature.  The current beneficiaries, along with the percentage of proceeds each receives, are:

  • 30% - Veterans Enhanced Service Delivery Program
  • 40% - Kansas National Guard Education Assistance Act Scholarships
  • 30% - Kansas Veterans Homes

Kansas Lottery Veterans games currently being sold include $1 Star Spangled 7's and $2 Red, Wild & Blue.  A new Veterans games, $1 Lucky Stars, is being sent to Lottery retailers this week; and another game, $2 Tanks of 200's, will be released soon. Veterans tickets are like other scratchers in terms of play action and prize structure. The only difference is that proceeds from these special tickets go directly to veterans programs.

To help spread the word about Veterans games and the programs they support, Lottery representatives are doing promotional events at Lottery retailers throughout the state this month. On November 5, from 12-2 p.m. the Lottery will team up with the Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs to do a promotion at the American Legion, located at 3800 SE Michigan in Topeka.  A Veterans Enhanced Service Delivery Van (paid for with Lottery proceeds) and Veterans Services Representatives will be on site.
