Strong Sales Fuel Mega Milions and Powerball Jackpot Increases

History is being made in the lottery world. This is the first time both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots have exceeded $400 million at the same time, and Kansas Lottery players are hoping to make a little history of their own by capturing one of these huge jackpots.

Fueled by strong sales, the jackpots for both games were increased late this morning. The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday is now an estimated $450 million ($281.2 million cash value).  It is the 4th largest Mega Millions jackpot ever and the 10th largest in U.S. lottery jackpot history. The Mega Millions jackpot has rolled 23 times since being hit October 13, 2017 in Rhode Island and Michigan.

The Powerball jackpot has soared to an estimated $570 million ($358.5 million cash value) for Saturday's drawing. That is the 5th largest Powerball jackpot ever and the 7th  largest in U.S. lottery jackpot history. The Powerball jackpot has rolled 20 times since being hit October 25, 2017 in Louisiana.

For players who are after the big one, Mega Millions has a new option called "Just the Jackpot" and the Kansas Lottery has a special deal for those who want to try it!

"Just the Jackpot" Flash Sale
Any player who purchases a $3 "Just the Jackpot" ticket on Friday, January 5, between 5:00 a.m. and 8:59 p.m. will automatically receive a FREE $1 Super Kansas Cash Quick Pick ticket.

What is "Just the Jackpot?"
When you ask for a "Just the Jackpot" wager, you are playing for the Mega Millions jackpot prize only. You will get two plays for $3. You can pick your own numbers or let the terminal pick them for you (Quick Pick).   Each $3 "Just the Jackpot" purchase gives you two chances to win the jackpot, but no other prize levels. Mega Millions plays cost $2 for each play, so playing "Just the Jackpot" with two plays for $3 saves the player $1.

The Kansas Lottery reminds players to have fun, but to please play responsibly. You must be 18 to purchase or claim a Kansas Lottery ticket.

Players are invited to submit all their winning and non-winning tickets in the Kansas Lottery PlayOn® Players Loyalty program to earn points for drawing entries and a chance to win cash and other prizes!
