Ticket Sold in Kansas Captures $9.43 Million Hot Lotto
Jackpot
The Kansas Lottery urges all
players with Hot Lotto tickets from last night's drawing to check
their tickets right away. A single ticket sold in Kansas matched
all numbers in Hot Lotto to win a jackpot estimated at $9.43
million! The ticket was sold in northeast Kansas.
The winning numbers from the
January 12 Hot Lotto drawing are: 13-15-21-34-35 Hot Ball 4.
The holder of the winning jackpot ticket should sign the back of
the ticket immediately and put it in a safe place until the ticket
is claimed. The winner may want to consult with an attorney
and/or financial adviser before claiming the ticket.
Among the decisions the winner
will have to make is whether to take the $9.43 million jackpot
prize as an annuity paid out over 24 years (25 payments) or as a
cash lump sum. Should the jackpot winner choose the cash option, he
or she would receive approximately $7.15 million, minus mandatory
federal and state withholding taxes.
The northeast region of Kansas,
where the ticket was sold, includes these 21 counties: Marshall,
Nemaha, Brown, Doniphan, Riley, Pottawatomie, Jackson, Atchison,
Geary, Wabaunsee, Shawnee, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Wyandotte,
Johnson, Osage, Douglas, Franklin, Miami, Morris and the northern
half of Lyon.
This is the fifth Hot Lotto
jackpot hit in the Kansas since Kansas joined the game in
2006.
This is also the third time in
less than a year that a Kansas ticket has won a multimillion dollar
jackpot in a multistate game! In March 2012, a
Franklin County resident won $218.6 million playing Mega Millions;
and in December 2012, a Johnson County resident claimed a $50
million Powerball jackpot.
Hot Lotto is played in 15
lottery jurisdictions - District of Columbia, Delaware, Idaho,
Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico,
North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Vermont and West Virginia.
The Hot Lotto jackpot returns to an estimated $1 million (annuity)
for Wednesday's drawing.
