Kansas Lottery Turning 25 Years
Old;
Public Invited to
November 13 Birthday Party
It was November 12, 1987, when
the Kansas Lottery sold its very first ticket. Sales of the first
instant game, Up and Away, were $7 million the first week. The
Lottery has been going strong ever since, and will celebrate its
25th
birthday next week.
Players, the public and former
employees are invited to a special Kansas Lottery birthday
celebration and player appreciation open house. Details are as
follows:

Topeka
The event will begin in the
parking lot with short comments from Dennis Wilson, the current
Kansas Lottery executive director, as well as Larry Montgomery, the
Lottery's first executive director (1987-89). A celebratory
balloon release will follow.
Cake and punch will be served
inside Lottery headquarters, and all participants 18 or older will
have a chance to "spin the prize wheel" for FREE lottery
merchandise, while supplies last. 94.5 Country will broadcast
live from the Lottery. A Veterans Service Mobile Delivery Unit,
paid for with proceeds from special Kansas Lottery Veteran's games,
will also be on display.
The Kansas Lottery's fun new
mascots, Powerball and Megaball, will be on hand to meet and greet
visitors. There will also be display of vintage Lottery products
and promotional items.
