Lansing Resident Claims $1 Million Powerball Prize!
A Lansing resident has claimed the $1 million Match 5 cash
prize from the August 15 Powerball drawing! The winner, who wished
to remain anonymous, matched the first five Powerball numbers on a
$6 Quick Pick ticket. The winning numbers for the Aug. 15 drawing
were 06-27-46-51-56 Powerball 21. The winner's numbers were
06-27-46-51-56Powerball 26.
"I stopped by a convenience store for a Coke and decided to
check my tickets before I bought more for that night's drawings.
When I scanned my ticket, the machine read, 'See store clerk. Claim
at Lottery.' I had never seen that message before, so I tried it
again and got the same message, so decided to have the store clerk
check it for me."
After scanning the ticket, the store clerk was shocked to see it
was worth $1 million.
"I was the only customer in the store when the clerk scanned my
ticket," said the winner. "When he realized how much I had won, he
came around and gave me a big hug and started jumping up and down.
It was pretty funny."
After taxes, 5% for state and 25% for federal, the winner will
receive a $700,000 lump sum.
The winning ticket was purchased at Finish Line, located at 506
N. Main in Lansing.
For selling the $1 million Powerball ticket, the store will receive
a $1,000 selling bonus.
