Wichita Resident Wins Second $5,000 Prize Playing Favorite Game

TOPEKA, KAN. – Shawn Thomas seems to have “super” luck playing $5 Super Red Hot Crossword instant scratch tickets. The Wichita resident not only won a $5,000 cash prize in January 2007, but stopped at Lottery headquarters yesterday to claim another $5,000 cash prize playing the game.

“This time I knew right away, I won $5,000,” said Thomas. “But to make sure, I had my ticket verified before making the trip to Topeka. I’ve had a death grip on my ticket ever since.”

According to Thomas, he plays the $5 Super Red Hot Crossword tickets every day.

“People give me a hard time for playing so much,” said Thomas. “I’ll stop at a store just to buy the $5 Crosswords. I’ve had good luck. I hope next time, I’ll win the $50,000 top prize.”

Thomas, who is single, plans to save his winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip 328, located at 2801 S. Hydraulic St. in Wichita.
