Colorado Resident Traveling through Kansas Wins $5,000

TOPEKA, KAN. – Last week while traveling through Kansas, Jeff Synowiecki stopped at a travel plaza to rest, grab a snack and a couple of lottery tickets. The Colorado resident couldn’t believe his good fortune when we won a $5,000 cash prize playing a Mother’s Day Wishes instant scratch ticket.

“I bought two different $1 games,” said Synowiecki. “I scratched my tickets right there at the counter. I was speechless when I realized I’d won $5,000 on Mother’s Day Wishes. It was very surreal.”

Synowiecki, who is a Kirby salesman, travels with five co-workers. After realizing he won, he showed them his winning ticket.

“They’re always giving me a hard time about buying lottery tickets every time we stop,” said Synowiecki. “It definitely paid off, even though it was random luck.”

According to Synowiecki, he planned to try his luck again before leaving Kansas today.

“The drive back to Colorado is a long one,” smiled Synowiecki. “Playing scratch tickets helps the time pass. You never know, maybe I’ll get lucky again.”

Synowiecki, who is single, plans to use his prize money to help purchase a newer vehicle.

The winning ticket was purchased at Garden City Travel Plaza, LLC, located at 1265 Solar Ave. in Garden City.
