Retired School Principal’s 2by2 Ticket Adds Up to $22,000 Win
TOPEKA, KAN. – Last night when calling the Kansas Lottery winning numbers hotline, Preston Pierce received a surprise worth $22,000. The Madison resident, who plays 2by2 every day, matched both red and both white numbers in Sunday’s drawing, winning a $22,000 top prize.
“I call the hotline every night after the drawings,” said Pierce. “When the hotline gave me my winning numbers, I had to call back to make sure I’d heard it right.”
According to Pierce, when he purchases a 2by2 ticket, he always buys a Quik Pick.
“The way I see it, it’s best to let the computer pick my numbers,” said Pierce. “I’ve had good luck. I’ve won $100 a few times and several free tickets.”
Pierce, who is a retired school principal, also won $2,500 a few years ago, playing a $1 instant scratch ticket.
“I like to play all lottery games,” said Pierce. “But I usually play 2by2, Powerball, and Super Kansas Cash. The new Kansas Hold‘Em game is a lot of fun, too.”
Pierce and his wife Pauline are undecided how they will spend their prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Murphy Oil Inc., located at 210 W. Hwy 99 in Olpe.
