Wichita Resident Wins $10,000 Playing Double Doubler Bingo

TOPEKA, KAN. – Last weekend, Richard Ludlum and his wife Arlene stopped at a convenience store to purchase lottery tickets. The Wichita residents, who play instant scratch tickets every day, bought several $2 Double Doubler Bingo tickets, winning a $10,000 top prize on one.

“Buying lottery tickets is our only entertainment,” said Ludlum. “We usually buy Bonus Crossword tickets because we feel we get more bang for our buck. The store was sold out of Crossword, so we thought we’d try our luck with Bingo.”

According to Ludlum, he had to look over his winning ticket three times before handing it to his wife to check. After she checked the winning ticket twice, they took it back to the store to have it verified.

“After they verified we’d won, we noticed the store had put out a new pack of Crossword tickets,” said Ludlum. “We bought 20 Crossword tickets and won $500 on a ticket my wife scratched. We couldn’t believe it.”

The Ludlums have had considerable luck this year playing lottery games. In January, the couple won a $2,500 cash prize, and two weeks ago they won another $2,000 cash prize.

“After realizing we won $10,000, it took my wife a whole day to settle down,” said Ludlum. “We’ve been lucky, that’s for sure.”

The Ludlums, who have been married 33 years, have four children and nine grandchildren. They plan to pay bills with their prize money.

The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip 356, located at 4808 S. Hydraulic St. in Wichita.
