Lake Quivira Resident Wins $5,000
TOPEKA, KAN. – Bruce Dunfee of Lake Quivira and his brother Tim, who carpool to work every day, always stop for coffee and lottery tickets. Last Thursday, Bruce purchased five $1 Fun 1’s instant scratch tickets, winning a $5,000 top prize on the fifth ticket he played.
“I scratched my tickets at work,” explained Dunfee. “When I realized I’d won, I had three people look at my ticket to make sure I was seeing it correctly.”
Dunfee, who has bad eye sight, usually shows his brother his tickets to make sure he hasn’t missed anything.
“When I called Tim to tell him I’d won $5,000, he didn’t believe me,” said Dunfee. “I even had the three people who checked my ticket call him and he still didn’t believe it. He didn’t believe it until I showed him my ticket.”
Dunfee, who is single, plans to use his prize money towards the purchase of a pontoon boat.
The winning ticket was purchased at Valero 3, located at 3456 Merriam Dr. in Overland Park.
