Atchison Mother Claims $20,000 Lottery Prize

TOPEKA, KAN. – An Atchison mother of four has won enough money to treat her children to new clothes and a lot more. Telisa Bratton claimed a $20,000 prize today at Lottery headquarters. She won the prize playing the Lottery’s most popular instant scratch game, $2 Bonus Crossword.

“This proves that anything can happen!” said the ecstatic 32-year-old winner. “I never thought anything like this would ever happen to me.”

Bratton said she bought five Bonus Crossword tickets yesterday, won $17 with those tickets, and purchased five more. On the second ticket she scratched, she revealed ten words, winning her one of the game’s top prizes.

Bratton, whose children are ages 13, 11, 4 and 2, has big plans for her prize money.

“I’m going to go shopping for my babies,” she said. “Shoes, clothes, games, a stereo, a television, and some furniture, too.”

Bratton purchased her lucky ticket at Super Store 1, located at 912 Division St. in Atchison.
