Request to Extend Southwest Deadline Denied

TOPEKA, KAN. - During a special meeting held January 7, 2008, the five-member Kansas Lottery Commission denied a request by the Ford County Commission to extend the deadline for submitting proposals for a lottery gaming facility manager in the Southwest Gaming Zone. The vote was unanimous.

Lottery Commissioners started the special meeting to consider the Ford County Commission’s request on December 31, 2007, but recessed until today to allow additional research on the issue. The 5-0 vote came today after the Commission went into a short executive session to meet with counsel.

The next regular meeting of the Kansas Lottery Commission is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. The meeting will be held via teleconference at the Kansas Lottery, located at 128 N. Kansas Ave. in Topeka.
