Lottery Commission Approves Sumner County Election

TOPEKA, KAN. – The Kansas Lottery Commission today approved the 2005 election held in Sumner County authorizing casino gaming as sufficient to meet requirements of the Kansas Expanded Gaming Act, thus eliminating the need for the county to hold another election.

On May 16, 2007, the Commission approved a similar election held in Crawford County, also eliminating the need for that county to hold another election. A casino can only be located in a county that has passed a proposition approving the operation of a lottery gaming facility in the county.

Remaining elections in counties within gaming zones are currently scheduled as follows:

June 26 Ford County
June 26 Wyandotte County
August 7 Sedgwick County

The next Kansas Lottery Commission meeting is currently scheduled to be an in-person meeting at Lottery Headquarters, 128 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2007.
