Lottery Commission Extends Deadline for Casino Applications in
Southwest and Southeast Gaming Zones

TOPEKA, KAN. – The five-member Kansas Lottery Commission today approved extending the deadline for submission of Lottery Gaming Facility (Casino) Applications in two of the state’s four gaming zones.

By a vote of 5-0, the Commission approved a joint request by Ford County and Dodge City to extend by 90 days the deadline for applications to be submitted for a casino in the Southwest Gaming Zone. The new deadline for the Southwest Gaming Zone is December 26, 2007, and replaces the previous deadline of September 27, 2007.

The Lottery Commission also approved a joint request by Crawford County and the Cities of Frontenac and Pittsburg to extend by 90 days the deadline for applications to be submitted for a casino in the Southeast Gaming Zone. The new deadline for the Southeast Gaming Zone is December 6, 2007, and replaces the previous deadline of September 6, 2007. The Commission vote was 4-1.

In other action, the Lottery Commission voted unanimously to approve a set of revised Rules and Regulations for Electronic Gaming Machines at Racetrack Gaming Facilities. Those Rules and Regulations can be viewed and downloaded on the Kansas Lottery website. The Rules and Regulations will be available on the website no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2007.

The Commission also gave final approval to a contract with GTECH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lottomatica S.p.A., to provide online and communications services for the Lottery until 2018.

The Kansas Lottery Commission is scheduled to hold its next regular meeting on Thursday, September 13, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. An “in person” meeting is planned, and the meeting will be held at Kansas Lottery Headquarters, 128 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka.
