Kansas Lottery Receives Application for SE Gaming Zone

TOPEKA, KAN. – The Kansas Lottery has received an application from a group seeking to manage a state-owned casino in the Southeast Gaming Zone of Kansas. The Lottery Gaming Facility manager application was received today from Ozark Trail Gaming LLC.

Ozark Trail Gaming LLC has applied to build a casino in Cherokee County at U.S. Highway 166/400, one mile north of I-44. Ozark Trail Gaming is headquartered in Wichita. The managing member of the LLC is Henry Blase, with other members listed as Henry Blase, trustee of the Schultz Family Trust; Robert G. Knight; and Theron Froggatte. The Lottery Gaming Facility would be called Ozark Trail Casino.

The deadline for applications was 2 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2009. The Southeast Gaming Zone of Kansas includes Cherokee and Crawford counties. No application was received for Crawford County.

The Lottery has 90 days, until January 19, 2009, to review the application and negotiate a contract with the applicant. If a contract is negotiated, the Lottery will then forward the contract to the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board for its consideration.
